It’s New Year!! Happy 2020 to you all.
Starting around about now the gym will be packed out with New Year Newbies, January Gym-ers – the people whose New Year’s resolutions included, ‘I must get fitter and lose some weight’.
Those of us who already go to the gym might complain a bit about the crowds, and the queues for the equipment – but deep down we’re with you. In fact, many of us started out in exactly the same way. Some of you will stick with it, you will start to see results, and you will start to wonder why you didn’t do this years ago. So go for it!!
And read this – ‘13 Things to Help You to Get Fit and Strong and… Stay That Way When You’re Over 60‘. I wrote it a couple of weeks ago for the online magazine Sixty And Me. Do please take a look and add your thoughts.
It’s the second post I’ve written for them – which means I now have a column!! An actual column!!
It’s an interesting experience. For one thing, it’s the first time I’ve had my writing edited by someone else! My original title for the post was ‘Getting Fit and Strong, Staying Fit and Strong’. But it’s been edited – blog posts attract more readers if they include the number of bullet points, and they’ve also signposted that it’s aimed at the over 60s. Fair enough. But it takes a bit of getting used to. You have to trust that they know what they’re doing.
All the very best for 2020 to you all. And if you’ve even vaguely thought about getting yourself fitter and stronger – well, you know what I’m going to say. JDI. JFDI.
