Something a bit different today.
If you relied on Facebook, you’d think that everyone is spending their time camping on the lawn, turning their garage into a home gym, and communing with the wildlife that has miraculously started appearing in their garden.
If that’s you – great.
But it’s not like that for everyone. Here in the UK we’re on Day 22 of lockdown, and some people are really, really struggling. Loneliness is a dreadful thing.
I’d like you to do something. Do it today. Do it right now (unless you’re reading this at 4 in the morning, in which case – do it later).
Choose five people. And contact them.
Phone them, email them, text them, send them a WhatsApp message, write them a letter. Yell at them from across the fence. Hell, send them a carrier pigeon. Anything.
But contact them. Just say ‘Hi, how’s it going?’.
Make the connection. Join the pieces. Start the conversation. It might be the most useful thing you’re able to do today.
And tomorrow – choose five more.
Stay safe. Stay sane. It’s not for ever. We can do this.

Thank you!! How are you bearing up? I’m self-isolating as much as is possible, bearing in mind I’m a key worker and therefore ‘with’ people 6 hours a day (although we try to maintain social distancing). Apart from going to work, I go to the supermarket for myself and a couple of neighbours once a week – and that’s it!!
Take care. xx

Hubby and I have been happily self-isolating for sometime now. We’re not very social normally so it’s not much of a change for us. Hubby has still been working and he does the shopping too.
It’s good to hear you’re holding up well through this. Stay safe while you’re out and about. =)

A very important message. It really doesn’t take that long to make someone feel like they matter. x

a great post. it’s definitely a time when we really must reach out to those we are close to, for their sake and ours.
