*&%#^@#!!!

October was a bit of a dead loss. Lots going on, and none of it good. It felt like a giant pile-on, with me at the bottom. And nothing that I could do about any of it.

As a result, I found myself in a strange place, decided that no-one really wanted to read my blog posts, and quietly stopped posting for a while. After 18 months of posting every other day, it felt quite odd. I was having ideas of things to write about, then thinking ‘Nah’, and not writing.

Maybe I just needed to take a break – and to give myself a break. Maybe I needed to realise that there’s no law saying I have to post every other day – my blog, my rules.

Well anyway – here I am, feeling better about things in general. Not that the things have gone away – but they’re no longer front and central.

And just as I start to feel a bit better – wham, we’re back into Lockdown. Although right now this minute no-one seems to know how exactly that will work. It won’t be the same as the previous Lockdown(s) – for one thing the schools, colleges and universities are still open.

At work yesterday (I work for a major DIY shed, we’re counted as an ‘essential retailer’) I lost count of how many times I was asked if we were going to close. We didn’t close last time, so no, we won’t be closing this time – but what exactly ‘open’ will look like, we don’t yet know.

I’m no great fan of the way the government have handled this – but I doubt any government would have found it easy.

All the tiers, all the graphs, all the slides, all the slogans, all amount to one simple thing – mix with other people as little as you possibly can. If you have to mix with others, keep your distance. Wash your hands. And wear a mask to protect them.

Do what you gotta do to stay safe and do your bit to keep other people safe too.

And always remember – you’re allowed to swear.

      2. Oh, enjoying the warm regards!! It’s turned chilly here in the UK – and wet. Where in Oz are you? I have a step-daughter in Perth and ‘family’ in New South Wales – https://middleagedfreeandsingle.com/2019/12/18/a-skeleton-in-the-cupboard/.

Hi. Glad you are back. I totally understand that you think “is it worth it” when you are blogging and kind of wonder if nobody find it interesting enough to comment. I am in the same boat, but – I love to write, and my IT guy told me I had a lot more followers than I thought (I am not good at statistics…). That inspired me a lot, and after quite a redesign the blog is now on the air. I am really proud. Like to have a look? http://www.evasundene.com. It is lifestyle, wellness, health and beauty for women 50 plus. Have a look. I love to do a guest blog for you, so send me a few words. We really have to think in alternative and positive ways in this Corona era to keep our mental and physical health. A challenge, but let us use it to rethink and improve our lives…. Love your blogs, missed them when you stopped doing them. Don’t feel under pressure to blog, as you say it’s your blog and you can do what you like.
I work in a school so like you I’ll keep going during lockdown, it’ll be strange for me as I shielded through the first one. Had to queue to get into M & S Guiseley for the first time today, I’m sure there will be more of that in our futures. Guy on the door said they’d slashed the numbers today.
    Stay safe.

    1. Yes, that’s the big difference between last time and this time. I don’t know if any of my colleagues will be furloughed this time round, but I wasn’t last time. I guess all these questions will be answered eventually!!
      Take care. xx

    1. Yes, I started beating myself up about not feeling like posting every other day – and then I realised that there’s no reason I should, other than that’s what I decided I would do. And I can just decide to do something else!! But it’s good to be back. xx
