It’s been a shit couple of days. We had such plans, you and I, at the start of the year.
So we’ve fallen off the wagon – so what? That doesn’t have to be the end of the story. Let’s forgive ourselves and climb right back on board. Let’s remind ourselves of why we wanted to do all of this in the first place. Above all, let’s be kind to ourselves.
Way back on 1st Jan, why did we decide we wanted to cut out the drink, or start the diet, or do more exercise? Why? And have those reasons changed? Have they? No, they haven’t.
So let’s say ‘Sod It’ very loudly and get back to it.
We can’t let Lockdown win – we have to stay true to ourselves and to what we wanted to achieve for ourselves. If you wanted to do Dry January, or start that diet, or do more exercise – do it. It won’t be easy – but do it anyway.
Don’t let Lockdown turn you into something you don’t want to be. Keep a little bit of yourself, a little bit of what you wanted to achieve, in amongst all the worry and the frustration and the boredom and the sadness. I wrote about Self Care a while ago – and we need to care for ourselves now, more than ever.
If we can pick ourselves up and brush ourselves down and crack on with it again, we’ll get the extra warm glow that comes with knowing we could have given up – but we didn’t. We chose not to give up.
We can do this. We have to do this – we can’t let Lockdown win.
