I have a few days annual leave, starting today.
I have no plans.
I haven’t even made any plans that have had to be cancelled.
Yes – Covid-19 has been with us for so long now that these few days hadn’t even been booked when it all started.
I’m even over being sad about it.
I shall enjoy not having to get up at 5:30 for the early shift.
I’m going to spend the week having a bit of a sort out and a general clean through before I put the Christmas decorations up. I have a cleaner – but she hoovers and dusts the living room, dining room and bedroom, and cleans the bathroom and the kitchen floor. She doesn’t clean the basement, she doesn’t clean the windows, she doesn’t sweep the drive, she doesn’t clean the office, she doesn’t wash the nets, and she doesn’t defrost the freezer.
And she doesn’t pressure wash the back steps. When my husband left, he took the pressure washer – he’s a much keener car cleaner than me so it made sense. But it means that the steps up to my back door haven’t been cleaned in nearly two years (probably longer, to be fair).
So yesterday I bought myself a pressure washer of my very own, and tomorrow I will clean the steps. They need it.
And once the house is clean and shiny-bright, I’ll put the Christmas decorations up. I don’t like to put them up too early – but I’m starting to feel a bit Christmassy now. The time has come!!
So – a week off, with no plans, but my to do list seems to be getting longer and longer!!
